What's Changed - Simplified Procedures
Old travel procedures had travelers running
all over the base to coordinate their paperwork (i.e., get the appropriate
signatures on their travel orders or vouchers). This process could
take up to a week to accomplish, keeping travelers away from their
duty locations for an inordinate amount of time.
Under DTS, all coordination is handled via electronic routing. Additionally,
the number of signatures required to get a travel order or voucher
approved has been vastly reduced. Now travelers can coordinate their
electronic documents in less than a day, enabling them to spend
more time performing important duties, such as defending the nation.
Moreover, the policies that govern TDY travel have also been greatly
simplified:
They are less complex.
| |
They have been reworded into
simple English. |
| |
They are now contained in about
30 pages. |
| |
They focus on the mission,
not the traveler. |
| |
They allow for payments by
Electronic Fund Transfer. |
| |
They allow split disbursement
(reimbursement to both the Government Charge Card vendor and
the traveler's personal bank account).
