As with rental vehicles,
you may authorize, but may not direct, the use of a
Privately Owned Conveyance (POC).
If a POC is authorized:
The should-cost
estimate must include the standard rate per mile
for the vehicle type and the distance between
home (or office) and duty locations.
| |
The traveler must enter the
Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD) distance. |
| |
If you authorize
travel by POC, the traveler will receive
reimbursement in one of two ways:
If you determine
POC use to be advantageous to the government,
the traveler receives full reimbursement.
| |
If you determine POC use
to be for the traveler’s convenience
(or if you direct another transportation
mode, but the traveler chooses to drive
a POC), the traveler is only reimbursed
up to the should-cost of the transportation
mode you approved. |
